Great episode. I’m glad to hear that she built her freelance clientele for two years before quitting her day job. I definitely want to pursue freelance writing, but don’t see it ever being a replacement for my primary income because of the volatility of clients.
I think the key to self-employment is diversification. Carrie has done a great job of diversifying and monetizing her business. In addition to writing (which she enjoys) she also has the Careful Cents Group that is a paid membership group. She also has 4 or 5 other things that she does to create different related/unrelated streams of income that come in. It’s the business model that I’m working towards.
Carrie really made the right decision to be self-employed. She seems to be enjoying this setup and get to do what she wants. Nice podcast.
She is really enjoying it! She has created an amazing community and is helping a lot of people (including myself!).
