For awhile now I’ve toyed with the idea of starting a podcast. But, it seemed like it would be technically a pain to deal with and the time I was considering it…I just wouldn’t have been able to manage additional stress. Now, I’m in a different head space and I’ve discovered that it’s not as complicated as I thought…and I love to talk to people.
Why Start A Podcast?
Why not?
Also, I think that more women and more people of color need to share our stories and share our voices. I also just want to contribute a very different point of view about finance, money, and how to approach it that I haven’t heard yet. Considering how many bloggers live in Colorado you would think that one of us would have a podcast. Well, I’m stepping up!
What Am I Calling The Show?
Michelle Talks Money:
(and other random stuff)
Helping People To Define and
Discover Their Own Money Process
This name came from reflecting on all of the numerous conversations that I’ve either: been a part of, listened to, or observed, surrounding the concept of process and approach to money issues. One person’s approach may be completely different from someone else’s, but if it’s working for them then they should own their process.
Also, I would like to have fun and lively conversations about topics that you might not think are money related…but for some reason I do! LOL!
I just wanted to give you a head’s up. The first episode will go live in about two weeks. I will keep you posted!
Question:
How Often Do You Think I Should Do A Podcast?
Once A Week? Every Other Week?

Oh I love it! Wish you the best!! I’m on the fence about frequency but I’m thinking at it from both sides – listener and podcaster. I don’t want you to bite off more than you can chew, and I would hate for quality to suffer by going weekly. But weekly is the best way to engage an audience I think. Make you part of their routine.
Michelle says
Thanks Kirsten for your kind words. I think you have a really good point about audience engagement and routines. Hmmm….

That’s really exciting, Michelle! Will look forward to listening in. I don’t know how much work is involved but I suspect it will be a lot…I think once every other week might be more achievable? It also leaves a bit of wiggle room with freelancing, as work might pile up at different times of the year.
Michelle says
Thanks Fiona! happily it’s not a ton of work. But I will have to edit the shows which takes up some time. I do like that you brought up freelancing frequency as well. Ok both you and Kirsten brought up really good points. Am still thinking LOL!
Toni @ Debt Free Divas says
You should do them as frequently as you can do it consistently with the level of quality that you want. Is that totally noncommittal????? LOL! I would think it’s better to bump up if you can handle more, but my numbers skyrocketed when I dropped from weekly to twice a month…go figure. I was spending less time preparing for podcasts and more on promotion. But I also like the idea of recording multiple shows in a day to give yourself wiggle room when you need it. I’m just not there yet. Above all…DO YOU! Congrats on starting.

Thanks Toni! You have been a huge inspiration when it comes to me making this decision. I’ve had such a positive experience on your show and I feel that every time I listen to one of your shows I’m going to be motivated and learn something new.

Looking forward to it! I always feel like you get to know someone so much more personally when you can hear their voice, rather than just reading their words. Can´t wait!

I’m leaning towards every other week! Am putting an editorial calendar together and should be getting started soon.
